According to a common report by the German magazine” Der Spiegel and Deutsche Welle”, a coalition of 3 civilian organizations gathered evidence from thousands of pages of evidence about the Assad regime’s use of chemical weapons in the attacks of Eastern Ghouta in August 2013 and Khan Sheikhoun in April 2017.The report pointed out that the coalition of the three organizations, namely the Open Society Justice Initiative, the Syrian Center for Media and Freedom of Expression, and the Syrian Archive, submitted a judicial complaint to the Federal Prosecutor in Karlsruhe last October about the use of Assad regime chemical weapons. The report added that the coalition of organizations placed responsibility on 10 figures in the Assad regime who responsible for the chemical attack in 2013, pointing out that the president’s brother, Maher al-Assad, was the one who gave the order to carry out the attack. He explained that the organizations will present new evidence to the public prosecutor about the case in the coming days, pointing out that 17 people are ready to provide testimony in this regard .
