The Israeli Foreign Ministry summons the Russian ambassador after his statements against Israel
Yesterday, Wednesday, the Israeli Foreign Ministry summoned the Russian ambassador in Tel Abib, Anatoly Viktorov, against the backdrop of his statements to the “Jerusalem Post” newspaper, in which he strongly criticized the role of Israel in the region, and consider it to be the problem of the Middle East.
According to a statement by the Israeli Foreign Ministry, the head of political and strategic affairs in the ministry, Alon Bar, vehemently objected the Russian ambassador’s statements, which “do not reflect the realities of the Middle East and were discussed repeatedly during political talks that took place through channels Diplomacy “between Israel and Russia.
The Russian ambassador confirmed that he is going to send a letter to the newspaper, in order to clarify his positions, because many of the statements were inaccurately conveyed.
The Israeli Jerusalem Post quoted Viktorov with statements in which he criticized Israel, and said: “The problem in the Middle East region does not lie in Iran’s activities, but rather in the absence of understanding between countries and the lack of commitment to UN resolutions.”
He added: “Israel attacks Hezbollah, and it is not Hezbollah that attacks Israel. Russia rejects any Israeli raids on Syria, neither in the past nor in the future. ”
He said:“ The Palestinian issue should not be marginalized and normalization should not be a substitute for the Palestinian-Israeli settlement, reiterating Moscow’s call for a “two-state solution.”
He emphasized that Russian proposals for talks between the Israelis and Palestinians in Moscow are still valid.
