Idlib Health Director: We have not been officially reported about the quantity and the date of Corona vaccine arrival
Corona virus continues to record hundreds of daily infections in northern Syria, amid the absence of preventive measures and the inability of the medical sector, local authorities and the general public in the face of the disease.
Today, Thursday, the epidemiological surveillance laboratory of the Early Warning and Epidemic Response Network program announced that the number of infections has reached 17,987 new cases of Coronavirus in northern Syria, while the number of deaths remained at 228.
Dr. Salem Abdan, Director of Health in Idlib city, said in an exclusive interview with Fresh Online: People commitment was low in taking the necessary precautions to prevent the Corona virus (wearing a mask and avoiding gatherings).
The Idlib Health Director added that the Health Directorate noticed a slight increase in the percentage of people wearing a muzzle, when the number of infections increased in the region, “but the commitment is generally weak in the liberated north of Syria.”
When Dr. Salem Abdan was asked about the arrival of doses of the British “Pfizer-Botnik” vaccine in northern Syria, he said: We have not been officially reported about the quantity and date Corona vaccine arrival.
Abadan confirmed that if the vaccine arrives in small quantities, it will be intended for people of high risk (the elderly – those with chronic diseases – weak immunity).
The United Nations Under-Secretary-General for Humanitarian Affairs, Mark Lowcock, previously said during a session of the Council on the Syrian crisis: “The source of 92 percent of the virus cases cannot be traced, and it is possible that the percentage of the outbreak is much greater than the confirmed cases, indicating that“ infections have increased. Last month, six times the number in northwestern Syria, we were informed that health care facilities in some areas were unable to absorb all suspected cases.
