The National Coalition calls on the official Lebanese authorities to shoulder their responsibilities towards the burning of Alminya camp
In a statement yesterday, Sunday, the National Coalition called on the official Lebanese authorities to shoulder their responsibilities due to the crime of burning a Syrian refugee camp in northern Lebanon, and their repeated failure to protect refugees or stop the incitement speech targeting refugees.
The National Coalition emphasized that the Lebanese authorities are required to prosecute and punish the persons directly responsible for the commission of this crime, and to ensure justice for them as a necessary step to put an end to this type of crime.
The National Coalition added that it is following the conditions of the affected refugees after the burning of the Syrian refugee camp in Minya, Lebanon.
He explained that he is communicating with the parties and relevant institutions to assess the situation and ensure that the basic needs of those affected are secured and their tents rebuilt.
The coalition thanked all the parties, the people, and the local and international institutions that rushed to provide a helping hand, and also thanked the King Salman Center for Relief and Charitable Activities, which announced its readiness to take care of the needs of those affected.
He stressed the need for the international community to fulfill its responsibilities, and its demand to work to ensure the safety and security of Syrian refugees in Lebanon, and the need to do what is guaranteed to them to have a decent life.
He pointed out that the international community is also required to move urgently towards the situation in Syria, including setting up an integrated framework for a political solution as a condition for the voluntary return of refugees, especially since millions of Syrian refugees prefer tragic and difficult situations and the experience of various types of misery over returning to their homes with the presence of the Assad regime
