The European Union contributes €7.5 million to help the Syrians

The European Union announced that it has contributed € 7.5 million to the “UNICEF” (an organization in the United Nations) program to provide humanitarian support to the most needy families and children, in Syria.

“The children of Syria need our support more than ever, after nearly a decade of war in their country,” said European Union Commissioner for Crisis Management, Janez Linaric.

“Families must be provided with emergency assistance, protection, and access to healthy water and sanitation, especially during the Coronavirus pandemic,” Linaric added.

On his part, the representative of UNICEF in Syria, Bo Victor Nilund, said: “UNICEF will remain committed to providing humanitarian aid to millions of Syrian children, as the tenth year of the war in Syria approaches.”

The Executive Director of the United Nations Children’s Fund at the “UNICEF” Henrietta Fawry called for the continuation of sending aid to northwestern Syria, and considered this an urgent necessity, and pointed out that since the beginning of the year, UNICEF has sent 100 trucks loaded with food and other essential items for children in Syria.
