Pederson between Moscow and Damascus to discuss the work of the Constitutional Committee
The UN special envoy to Syria, Geir Pedron, said today, Wednesday, that he will travel to Moscow and then Damascus to continue consultations on the work of the Syrian Constitutional Committee.
Pederson added: “I will go to Moscow tomorrow, Thursday, to continue consultations with Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov, and I am waiting impatiently for these talks,” as he said.
He added that after visiting Moscow, he will travel to Damascus to see how the consultations on the political process in Syria will proceed.
On the consultations of the UN Special Envoy to Syria, with the delegations of the opposition and the Assad regime, he stressed that the meetings of the Constitutional Committee could not continue in this way.
Since the beginning of this month, the UN envoy has held talks by telephone on two occasions with the Russian Deputy Foreign Minister, prior to the Astana meetings to discuss the latest developments in the Syrian file.
