Russia is preparing to hold the so-called “Syrian Refugee Conference” in Damascus
The Russian Hmeimim, base in Syria, have directed invitations at the beginning of last month, to hold what it called the “Syrian Refugee Conference” led by Russia in Damascus. The Russian invitation says: “It is important for the return of Syrian refugees in various parts of the world to their homeland, and given that the crisis in Syria has relatively stabilized, while the burdens on host countries have increased, the international community must redouble its efforts in order to provide comprehensive support to all Syrians who wish to Return to their country, as well as creating suitable conditions for their living, the infrastructure, living facilities and humanitarian support, ”according to her claim. In an exclusive interview with Fresh Online, the head of the Syrian Bar Association in Turkey, Ghazwan Kronfol, said: “Russia realizes that the survival of the Assad regime is the main goal of its intervention, and that in order to achieve that goal, the refugees or a large part of them must return in order to attract Western offers to do so. This invitation and the participation of the countries hosting the refugees in the conference, hoping to join them in this effort and restrict the refugees and push them to return. Kronfol added, “I doubt that anyone will respond to the idea of returning to Syria as long as the Assad regime is in place, even among the refugees loyal to the regime will not return to Syria. As for the displaced, I think that most of them will not return to their areas of residence.” With regard to the presence of Russian guarantees that do justice to the return of Syrian refugees to their country, Kronfol assured: “If the refugees decide to return, they will return under minimal conditions. Serious Russian and Turkish guarantees that their return will be safe. In other areas it proved its failure. He concluded, “Even if the conference was held, its decisions and recommendations would have no value unless there was a European and American presence in it, and I doubt that would happen.”
