Hadi Al-Bahra: It is not possible to think of the return of refugees in light of the ongoing crimes committed by the Assad regime
The head of the opposition of constitutional committee discussions, Hadi Al-Bahra, denounced the conference organized by Russia regarding the return of Syrian refugees to their villages and towns under the current circumstances.
Al-Bahra said in an exclusive interview with Fresh Online: “It is shameful for any party to think of the return of refugees, in light of the crimes and massacres that the Assad regime and the Russian aggression are still committing against the Syrian people.”
Al-Bahra stressed that the return of refugees must be closely linked with the full and strict implementation of Security Council Resolution 2254.
“Refugees cannot return to their areas without achieving any sustainable security and stability and without providing a safe and neutral environment for their return,” he added.
He pointed out that the Assad regime is completely incapable of securing the basic life needs of the refugees, pointing out that Assad is unable to secure the needs of the remaining people within the areas it controls.
With the international community’s insistence that the conditions are not yet appropriate to discuss the issue of the return of refugees, and that no country or organization has announced its consent to participate in the Damascus conference, it remains unclear what goals Russia seeks to achieve by calling for such an event that is doomed to failure before it is held.
