Mike Pompeo: Moscow is playing political games and obstructing the solution to crises in the Middle East
US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo attacked the Russian government and its policy that worsens the situation in conflict countries in the Middle East.
In a statement, Pompeo accused Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov of reversing the facts, especially Lavrov’s statements in which he said, “Washington is playing political games in the Mediterranean.”
Pompeo added that Russia is the party that undermines stability in Syria, Libya and other countries in the Middle East, and added: “All these actions clearly show that if there is someone who is playing political games and trying to disrupt progress in the region’s conflicts, then it is Russia, which is working to promote its own interest only at the expense of the entire region. ”
During his participation in a session of the Russian Council for Foreign Affairs, Lavrov accused Washington of trying to undermine his country’s relations with India.
In the same context, Pompeo said, “The United States is working effectively with regional partners, and supports the political process under the auspices of the United Nations in Libya.”
Earlier Tuesday, Russian President Vladimir Putin congratulated US President-elect Joe Biden on his official victory as President of the United States.
