Response coordinators demand the organizations to assume their responsibility towards the northern camps
The Syria Response Coordinators Group called on humanitarian organizations and agencies to contribute to securing the urgent needs of the displaced and displaced within the camps of northern Syria, to assume their responsibility towards the displaced in the camps, and to bear the responsibility for not being prepared to face the coming winter disasters.
The director of the Response Coordination Team, Muhammad Hallaj, told Fresh Online: “Nearly 25 camps (4000 families in those camps) have been damaged in the areas of Atma, Kafr Yahmoul, Kili, Harbnoush, and Sheikh Bahr.
The damages varied between the water leakage of the tents or the damage to the tent foundation from the inside, in addition to the formation of limited mud swamps, in addition to the collapse of some concrete camps in some camps, such as Ghaith camp and Rahma camp in the Atma area.
Regarding the needs that must be secured in the camps, Muhammad Hallaj called for the immediate provision of rain condoms for all the camps, in addition to replacing the damaged tents in the northern camps in general, which have been affected by the passage of time since the beginning of the forced displacement movements and displacement from the areas that have been subjected to violent escalation by the Assad regime in Last few years.
Al-Hallaj added in Haditha to Fresh Online: “Despite the great delay in responding to the camp residents, it is necessary to“ scrutinize ”the streets of some camps and raise the level of tents from the ground.
Al-Hallaj called on camp residents to dig small trenches around the tents, which can contribute to absorbing the first water shocks after the rains.
The winter of last year witnessed many disasters in the camps for the displaced in northwestern Syria, due to rain and snowstorms and the harsh winter climate, in light of the increase in the number of displaced people caused by the direct violations of the ceasefire in Idlib by the Assad regime and Russian forces.
