Announcing the date for the last round of the Syrian Constitutional Committee talks.
Yesterday, the delegation of the Negotiating Committee of the Syrian Constitutional Committee announced the holding of two new rounds to complete the talks concerning the committee at the end of this month.
This is the third and final round, after the previous rounds failed to achieve progress during the last period, in an attempt by the Assad regime’s government to disrupt and delay the work of the Constitutional Committee and thwart it to keep Assad and his regime in power.
The delegation said on its Twitter account: “The fourth round will start on November 30 and end on December 4.
For his part, the co-chair of the Constitutional Committee, Hadi Al-Bahra, said: “A few days ago, the agreed agenda for the fourth session included a discussion of what the Assad regime’s delegation proposed regarding national principles.
Al-Bahra previously considered that the work of the Constitutional Committee “will inevitably lead to activating the political process and implementing Security Council Resolution 2254.
Therefore, agreement on holding the next two rounds and on the work of the Constitutional Committee as a whole is important, whether fruitful or not.”
He stressed the Assad regime’s continued disruption, lack of serious and positive engagement, and the delay in setting a date for the fourth round of the committee’s work.
It was agreed to hold the fifth round of the work of the Constitutional Committee before the end of the current year 2020, and it is dedicated to “discussing what the Syrian opposition delegation proposes regarding the basic principles of the constitution”.
