“Joel Rayburn”: If Putin falls from power in Moscow, Bashar al-Assad will also fall
The former US Special Envoy for Syria Joel Rayburn said “the fate of Syria’s president Bashar al-Assad is related to Russia’s war in Ukraine and the developments of the war in Kherson and Crimea.
Rayburn tweeted “If Vladimir Putin loses his war in Ukraine, eventually Bashar al Assad will lose his war in Syria. If Putin falls from power in Moscow, Assad will fall from power in Damascus.”
Rayburn affirmed that the only solution in Syria is to implement the UN Security Council Resolution 2254. Rayburn is considered one of those opposed keeping Bashar al-Assad in power. He has earlier said that according to my experience in Syria and Iraq, I do not think that Syria will be stabilized or the war will end as long as the regime remains.
It is noteworthy that Rayburn was appointed as the US Special Envoy for Syria from 2018 to 2021. He supervised US diplomatic activities related to Syria.
