Kuwaiti Foreign Ministry: Our embassy in Damascus will be re-opened very soon

Kuwaiti Foreign Ministry announced on Monday that it will work on to re-open its country’s embassy in Syria very soon.

Kuwaiti Foreign Minister, Abdullah al-Yahya, said that the Kuwaiti embassy in Syria will be re-opened very soon.

Al-Yahya’s statements came during his sponsorship and attendance at a celebration held by the Kuwait Fund for Arab Economic Development.

According to the Kuwait News Agency, the Minister of Foreign Affairs renewed the supportive stance of the State of Kuwait for the Syrian people, pointing out that support for Lebanon and Syria is under consideration, and that Kuwaiti aid to the Syrian people is continuously increasing.

It is noteworthy that on March 15, 2012, an official source in the Kuwaiti Ministry of Foreign Affairs announced the closure of its embassy in Damascus and ordered its diplomats to leave the Syrian territories.

This order came in harmony with the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) States’s position and due to the deteriorating security situation in Syria.
