Washington: We oppose the upcoming Turkish military operation in northern Syria
The White House National Security Council spokesperson, John Kirby, said during a press conference: “The US opposes the upcoming Turkish military operation in northern Syria.”
Kirby added that America made it clear to Turkey about the risks of its military operations in northwestern Syria, even though Washington believes that Ankara has the right to defend itself.”
Kirby also added that “We do not want to see military operations carried out in northwestern Syria, which will put civilians in greater danger than they already are and threaten our troops and personnel in Syria as well as our mission to fight the Islamic State.”
The Turkish army continues to send more military convoys to northern Syria, coinciding with targeting sites and points of the Syrian Democratic Forces in the region.
