Turkish Defense Minister: The solution to the Syrian crisis will be through UN Resolution 2254
Turkish Defense Minister Hulusi Akar said on Wednesday that “The Turkish delegation affirmed the importance of resolving the Syrian crisis, including all parties, in accordance with UN Resolution 2254.
This comment came during the trilateral meeting held on Wednesday in Moscow, and brought him together with the Russian Defense Minister and Assad regime Defense Minister.
He added that his country respects Syria’s territorial integrity and Ankara’s aim to fight against “terrorism,” pointing out that his country will make contributions to bring peace to Syria.
Akar confirmed that they discussed counterterrorism during their meeting. “Our only goal in Syria is to neutralize members of terrorist organizations and ensure security on our borders.”
Akar added that during the meeting, the Turkish delegation affirmed that Ankara is making efforts to prevent further migration from Syria to Turkey.
Turkish Defense Minister Hulusi Akar and intelligence chief Hakan Fidan arrived on Wednesday at the Russian capital, Moscow, to hold talks with the officials of Russia and the Assad regime.
