The United Nations has warned against the closure of Bab al-Hawa border crossing which is used for humanitarian aid delivery into north-west Syria.
This statement came in response to a question to Stephane Dujarric, the spokesman for the UN Secretary-General, concerning the cross-border aid delivery program to Syria.
Dujarric said that millions of people will suffer if the UN Security Council fails to extend the mechanism of humanitarian aid access through Turkey into north-west Syria.
Dujarric pointed out that the position of the United Nations is clear in this regard, calling for the extension of humanitarian aid delivery mechanism to Syria.
The UN Security Council mandate for humanitarian aid delivery into northern Syria across Turkey is set to expire on January 10, 2023.
