Death toll has passed 810 and thousands have injured after a massive earthquake hit northwest Syria
The Syrian Civil Defense said on Tuesday morning that the death toll in the earthquake that hit northwest Syria crossed 810 people and more than 2200 injured. The toll is likely to rise much as hundreds of families still trapped under the rubble.
The Syrian Civil Defense said in a Facebook post that more than 210 buildings were completely destroyed and more than 520 were partially damaged as well as thousands of buildings and houses were cracked by the earthquake.
The Syrian Civil Defense confirmed that its teams continue the search operations for more than 29 hours amid huge difficulties and the ongoing aftershocks.
The Syrian Civil Defense appealed to all humanitarian organizations and international bodies to provide financial assistance and respond to this catastrophe urgently, saying “The time is running out and hundreds of families remain trapped under the rubble, so every second means saving lives.”
Northwest Syria witnessed at dawn on Monday massive 7.7 magnitude earthquakes, killing hundreds of people and injuring thousands more as well as catastrophic property damage.
