US-Qatar Agreement to Ensure Continuity of Life-Saving Services in Northwest Syria
The Qatar Development Fund and USAID signed a funding agreement to support basic White Helmets operations to ensure the continuation of life-saving services northwest of Syria.
In a statement, Qatar State News Agency said, “This support will enable White Helmets to cover the basic costs of deploying volunteer field teams, maintaining and operating search and rescue equipment and providing medical consumables to meet urgent humanitarian needs.”
Cooperation between the Qatar Development Fund and the Agency will ensure that White Helmets operations are facilitated and any type of disaster or crisis proactively dealt with. According to the statement, there is no shortage of equipment and abilities.
This comes days after EU Foreign Affairs Commissioner Joseph Borrell said he was looking into the possibility of providing support to the White Helmets.
