The Justice and Development Party: We are conducting diplomatic negotiations to return the Syrians to their country
The deputy chairman of Justice and Development Party in Turkey, Numan Kurtulmuş, spoke on Monday about his country’s plans regarding the Syrian refugees during the coming period.
Kurtulmuş said that Ankara is seeking to establish safe areas in Syria to voluntarily return Syrians to their country.
Kurtulmuş made it clear that his country is working to find diplomatic ways in order to implement the project.
Kurtulmuş delivered a speech during the opening of an election office in Istanbul, and he pointed out during the speech that the reason which prompted the Syrians to come to Turkey was the war in their country.
Kurtulmuş emphasized that the Turkish government is conducting diplomatic negotiations to create an environment that guarantees the safety of the Syrians and provides them with a “voluntary return” to their country.
Kurtulmuş considered that the option of returning by force is excluded because the Syrians cannot be sent to death, pointing out at the same time that there are over 700,000 Syrians who have returned to their country after security was provided for them.
It is noteworthy that Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan previously revealed that his country is seeking to establish a new safe zone on the Syrian-Turkish border with the aim of returning one million Syrian refugees to their country.
