Russian Foreign Ministry: The solution to the Syrian crisis is through paying attention to the UNSCR 2254
The Russian Deputy Foreign Minister and President Vladimir Putin’s Special Envoy for the Middle East and Africa, Mikhail Bogdanov, met with the former vice president of the Syrian Negotiations Committee, Khalid al-Mahamid, in the United Arab Emirates (UAE).
The Russian “TASS” news agency quoted a statement issued by the Russian Foreign Ministry as saying: “The two sides exchanged views during the meeting on the development of the situation in and around Syria, and they paid attention to the issue of a comprehensive political settlement to the Syrian crisis in accordance with UN Security Council Resolution No. 2254.”
The statement confirmed the importance of unconditional respect to Syria’s unity, territorial integrity and sovereignty, as well as the need to improve the humanitarian situation and post-conflict reconstruction.”
It is noteworthy that this meeting came after a meeting held by Bogdanov on April 22, in which he met the diplomatic advisor to the president of the United Arab Emirates (UAE) Anwar Gargash.
