The Syrian National Coalition condemns the decision of readmitting the Assad regime into the Arab League
The Syrian National Coalition condemned on Sunday the decision of readmitting the Assad regime into the Arab League, after 12 years of killing and displacement the Syrian people.
The Coalition said in the statement, “The great Syrian people are alone again without official Arab support, after the Arab League decided to return the Assad regime to its seats.”
The Coalition added that “This decision is considered as a neglecting and encouragement of what the Assad regime has done in terms of killing and displacement during the past12 years against the Syrian people, who have suffered a lot from injustice and tyranny.”
The Coalition expressed its rejection and resentment concerning the decision of readmitting the Assad regime into the Arab League, emphasizing that the decision means abandoning the Syrian people and stopping support their just demands. The decision is a clear bias towards the Assad regime.
The Coalition stressed the importance of a complete political transition in Syria in accordance with the UN Security Council Resolution 2254, and bringing the Assad regime and its allies to accountability and trial.
The Coalition renewed the persistence of the Syrian people on their principles and rightful demands and their continuation in their revolution until reaching the new Syria, a Syria of freedom, dignity, democracy and independence.
The Arab foreign ministers agreed, during a consultative meeting headed by Egyptian Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry on Sunday, to readmit the Assad regime into the Arab League and resume participation of its delegations in the Arab League council’s meetings.
