Joe Wilson, the chair of the Subcommittee on the Middle East Affairs in the US Congress, confirmed that “Arab normalization with the Assad regime will be met with “serious” consequences.”
Wilson tweeted on his personal account on “Twitter”, describing the Arab summit meeting in Jeddah as “disgusting”.
Wilson claimed that he is working to ensure the pass of “Assad Anti-Normalization Act” rapidly through Congress.
US Senator Jim Risch tweeted that “Bashar al-Assad, the war criminal in Syria, has attended the meeting of the Arab League on Friday, in Jeddah, for the first time in 12 years.”
Rish called for condemnation Assad regime’s return to the Arab embrace, considering that the Syrians deserve to hold Bashar al-Assad accountable.
The US House of Representatives approved last Tuesday a draft resolution to fight normalization with the Assad regime, and this resolution was introduced by the “American Coalition for Syria (ACS).”
The resolution is considered one of the most important resolutions related to Syria, since the adoption of the Caesar Act in 2019, because it imposes sanctions on those who deal with the Assad regime and its supporters and prevents the United States from recognizing any government led by Bashar al-Assad.
