Ayman Al-Safadi: The decision of readmitting Assad regime to the Arab League came as a result of the international inaction to solve the “Syrian crisis”
Jordanian Foreign Minister Ayman Safadi said that “the decision of readmitting Assad regime to the Arab League came because there were no international efforts to solve the crisis in Syria.
Al-Safadi added, during his participation in the International Donors’ Conference held in Brussels, that we started a political process for Syria after the Jeddah Summit, according to a step-by-step approach, in accordance with the UNSC Resolution 2254.
Al-Safadi continued that the international community must assume its responsibilities towards the refugees, and it is no longer possible to deal with the same old mechanism to solve the “Syrian crisis.”
Al-Safadi proposed the establishment of a fund that would provide a “safe environment” for the return of Syrian refugees to their country, pointing out that the solution to the problem of Syrian refugees depends on their voluntary return to their country.
On Thursday 15 June, the 7th Brussels Conference on “Supporting the future of Syria and the region” begins, with the participation of a number of Arab and European officials.
