Moscow: The normalization negotiations between Turkey and the Assad regime are important to settle the situation in Syria
Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova said in a press conference that “her country considers the normalization negotiations between Turkey and the Assad regime important to settle the situation in Syria.”
Zakharova’s statement came in response to a possible meeting between Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov and his Turkish counterpart Hakan Fidan.
Zakharova added that “we have got good results in terms of normalizing Turkish-Syrian relations, which is important for stability in the region.”
Zakharova pointed out that “we are ready and open to communicate with Turkish partners, and we are also ready to maintain contacts on a wide range of issues.”
It is noteworthy that on the tenth of last May, Moscow hosted a meeting of the foreign ministers of Turkey, Russia, Iran and the Assad regime, the first of its kind in the path of normalization that began at the end of last year.
