The Syrian Civil Defence: Cross-border aid delivery is legal without Assad regime’s approval

The Syrian Civil Defense Organization said in a Facebook post that cross-border humanitarian aid into Syria is legal without a permission from the Security Council and Assad regime who killed and displaced the Syrians.

The organization added that there is a legal document stipulating cross-border aid delivery into Syria, without the need for Security Council’s vote or Assad regime’s approval.

The organization emphasized that the United Nations will inflict significant psychological damage on the residents in northern Syria through forcing them to receive their foods and medicines with Assad regime’s approval who is responsible for their suffering for years.

The organization stated that the most important principles of humanitarian action is not to cause harm, and it is unacceptable for aid to cause any moral or physical harm to the beneficiaries.

According to the organization, its disappointing for Syrians to politicize the humanitarian aid file, without taking any consideration for humanitarian values.

The organization pointed out that there are over two million Syrians who have a long history of displacement and siege imposed by the Assad regime, and stressed the need not to forget “the violations and crimes committed by the regime against the population.”

The United Nations affirmed earlier that humanitarian aid entry operation would not resume, because it is still studying the conditions placed by the Assad regime for the use of Bab al-Hawa crossing.
