Turkish Defense Minister: It is unreasonable to leave Syria without securing our borders
Turkish Defense Minister Yasar Guler said: “It is unreasonable to leave Syria without guaranteeing the security of our borders and our people.”
Guler’s statement came as a comment on the condition that the Turkish army leaves the Syrian territories. Syria’s president Bashar al-Assad set this condition to meet with Turkey’ president Recep Tayyip Erdogan.
The Turkish minister added that “we wan peace in Syria, our president works sincerely and intensively to establish peace there, we also believe that Bashar al-Assad will act more reasonable concerning this issue, according to Turkish “Daily Sabah” newspaper.
Guler considered that the most significant stage of achieving peace in Syria is drafting and adopting a new constitution.
It is noteworthy that Bashar al-Assad claimed in an interview with “Sky News Arabia” a few days ago that Erdogan’s goal of sitting with him “is to legitimize the presence of the Turkish occupation in Syria,” pointing out that “terrorism in Syria is a Turkish industry”.
