Israeli airstrikes targeted early on Monday Aleppo International Airport, putting it out of service.
The Israeli warplanes struck Aleppo International Airport at around 4:30 a.m. from the direction of the Mediterranean Sea, Assad regime news agency SANA reported, citing an unnamed military source.
The source added that the airstrikes targeting the airport caused damage to the runway, putting it out of service, according to SANA.
The Assad regime’s Trasport Ministry announced in a statement that the scheduled flights (Arrivals and Departures) will be diverted from Aleppo airport to Damascus and Latakia airports.
The Trasport Ministry stated that the technical, engineering and administrative staffs are exploring the damage to the airport runway and removing the debris caused by the Israeli aggression in preparation for repairing it.
The Israeli warplanes also struck with several airstrikes the Nayrab military airport, east Aleppo.
The Israeli Alma website confirmed that the attack happened because precision intelligence reports were leaked which affirmed the presence of advanced Iranian weapons in the airport.
The Iranians transferred weapons, including combat drones, from al-Jarrah military airport to al-Nayrab military airport, according to the website.
The Israeli planes launched airstrikes on May 2, 2023 targeting Aleppo International Airport and a number of military points around the airport, killing a member of the Assad regime forces and injuring five others, as well as putting the airport out of service.
