The Saudi Foreign Minister discusses with Pedersen the latest developments regarding the political solution in Syria
Saudi foreign minister, Faisal bin Farhan, discussed with the UN special envoy to Syria, Geir Pedersen, the latest developments on the political solution to the Syrian crisis and the efforts of the kingdom of Saudi Arabia and the United States to reach a political solution to the Syrian crisis, including the outcomes of the Arab summit which was held in Jeddah.
This discussion came during their meeting at the headquarters of the kingdom’s permanent delegation to the United Nations in New York on the sidelines of the work of the 78th UN General Assembly.
The Saudi Foreign minister confirmed the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia’s keenness to exert all efforts to reach a political solution to the Syrian crisis that preserves Syria’s unity, security, stability, and Arab affiliation and achieves goodness and prosperity for its brotherly people, according to a statement quoted by Saudi Press Agency (SPA).
The statement stated that the Kingdom’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations in New York, Abdulaziz bin Mohamed Al-Wasel, and the Director-General of the Foreign Minister’s Office, Abdulrahman Al-Daoud, attended the meeting.
The Saudi Ministry of Foreign Affairs announced last August through its platform X, formerly Twitter, that Prince Faisal met with Assad regime foreign minister, Faisal Al-Mekdad, and the two sides exchanged views on issues of common interest.
