Syria Civil Defence: Assad regime and Russia’s attacks pose a threat to civilians’ lives in northern Syria
Syria Civil Defence said on Sunday, December 10, 2023, that the military escalation and systematic shelling by Assad regime and its Russian ally pose a serious threat amid hard living conditions and international community’s inaction to hold Assad regime accountable.
The Syria Civil Defence announced in a statement in a Facebook post that the continuation of missile attacks on Idleb city and its countryside since December 9th led to the killing of 6 civilians, including 2 children and 1 woman, and injuring 41 civilians, including 10 children and 1 woman, some of them were in critical condition.
According to the statement, the residential neighborhoods in Sarmin city in eastern Idleb countryside subjected to similar shelling, killing a man and injuring 6 civilians, including two children, also a fire broke out in house in the market area in Sarmin city, eastern Idleb.
The Syria Civil Defence pointed out that Assad forces targeted the residential neighborhoods, the carpenters (Najjarin) market area, the industry area, and vital areas in the city, including public facilities in Idleb city, sparking several fires in the city’s neighborhoods.
This escalation came at a time when the population is facing difficult conditions with the beginning of winter and rainfalls that exacerbate the suffering of the displaced people living in the camps, at a time when the humanitarian response to the needs of the population is diminishing, leaving them facing deadly attacks and difficult winter conditions.
