Israel conducts airstrike on Damascus targeting a senior Revolutionary Guard commander
The Israeli military carried out an airstrike night on Tuesday, October 8, targeting a residential building in the Mezzeh suburb of Damascus, near the Iranian embassy.
According to local sources, the airstrike targeted a senior Iranian leader in the building which led to injuring him.
The sources made it clear that the targeted building in the Mezzeh suburb contained Iranian officers and their families, explaining that at least 15 people were killed and injured as a result of the bombardment.
Syria’s state news agency “SANA” said that the Israeli aggression launched three missiles from the direction of the occupied Syrian Golan, targeting a residential and commercial building in the densely populated Mezzeh suburb in Damascus.
7 civilians, including children and women, were killed and 11 others were injured as a preliminary toll in the airstrike, in addition to massive material damages in the private properties surrounding the area.
Local sources pointed out that the Civil Defense teams and the Damascus Fire Brigade were evacuating the residents of the upper floors of the targeted building, as a result of the damage to the building’s stairs following the Israeli airstrike.
For its part, Hebrew media reported that the airstrike targeted a senior Iranian Revolutionary Guard leader, without specifying the person or his position.
