“The International Donors Group” lauds the efforts of Civil Defence and its work in Syria
“The International Donors Group” lauded in a statement the efforts of Syria Civil Defence foundation (The White Helmets) for its extraordinary humanitarian efforts that it exerted since it was founded in 2014.
The statement confirmed that the work of the Syria Civil Defence was crucial and critical through providing aid, relief, and hope to the vulnerable populations in Syria.
The statement made it clear that while Syria continues to face unprecedented humanitarian and human rights challenges, the international donors in Canada, Denmark, France, Germany, Qatar Fund for Development, UK, and US laud the tremendous and courageous efforts made by 3,000 dedicated Civil Defense volunteers.
The Internation Donors Group said in the statement that “Civil Defense volunteers are steadfast during the crucial moments, and the White Helmets organization remains the main operator of search and rescue, and the largest provider of basic services such as the emergency medical care, demining, and boosting the community’s resist.”
The statement stated that over the past decade, Civil Defence has evolved from a number of small grassroots volunteer groups to a famous Syrian-led institution, and its growth has been characterized by its firm commitment to meet the Syrian people’s needs.
The statement pointed out that the Civil Defence continues its work under extremely difficult circumstances, and seeks to achieve justice and accountability for all the violations of international humanitarian law.
The Civil Defence Foundation explained in a statement that, since its establishment, it has had a fundamental mission, which is to save lives, and its slogan is the Quranic verse: “And whoever saves a life, it is as if he saved all of mankind.”
The Civil Defence pointed out that over the years it has been able to save more than 128,000 people, which is the most important achievement in the organization’s work over the past ten years.
It stressed that the work it does in helping society and documenting crimes and violations has made her volunteers the target of systematic attacks by the Assad regime, Russia, and their allies, and has also exposed them to very harsh physical and psychological conditions.
The Foundation noted that its achievements would not have been possible without the valuable support of its partners and the International Donors Group (Canada, Denmark, France, Germany, Qatar Fund for Development, the United Kingdom, and the United States of America), organizations and individuals around the world, which contributed to enabling it to expand its operations and building the ability of its teams to respond effectively to challenges, thanking everyone who contributed and supported saving lives and making the lives of Syrians better.
