The Syrian Negotiation Commission (SNC) expressed on Friday, November 7, its hope that the US president-elect, Donald Trump, will be able to stop the wars, achieve the sustainable peace, and support the Syrian people’s aspirations.

The head of the Syrian Negotiation Commission, Bader Jamous, said: “Democracy has always been a key to the renaissance of peoples and nations, and perhaps the US presidential elections are one of the faces of democracy that the Syrian people are looking forward to and continue to be an essential part of their country’s future.”

Jamous “expressed his appreciation for democracy represented by this process which expresses the opinion and the will of the American people and confirms the right of citizens to choose their leader.”

Jamous “congratulated Trump for obtaining the confidence of American voters and also congratulated the American people for his success in consolidating the pillars of democracy.”

Jamous pointed out that “We hope that Trump will be able to implement the electoral program concerning stopping the wars and achieving the sustainable peace in the world, especially the Middle East.”

Jamous continued, saying: “We all hope that President Trump’s administration will support the aspirations of the Syrian people for freedom and ending tyranny, achieve stability and security in Syria, work to end the Syrian tragedy that has been going on for 14 years, advance the political process in a way that achieves the legitimate aspirations of the Syrian people, and work to implement UN Security Council Resolution 2254, sponsored by the United States.”
