Israel bombs more than 20 sites of the Assad regime’s IT Corps in Syria
The Israeli army announced on Sunday that “its Air Force destroyed more than 20 sites of Information Technology Corps of the deposed Assad regime’s army last night.”
The Israeli army radio said: “Sites where communications and electronic warfare antennas belonging to the Assad regime army were located were destroyed.”
The Israeli army radio added that “these sites enjoyed technological capabilities that were destroyed to prevent them from falling into the hands of hostile forces.”
The radio quoted a source as saying: “Israeli warplanes carried out these attacks in several Syrian regions, including Damascus, Suwayda, Masyaf, Latakia, and Tartous.”
For its part, the Israeli newspaper Maariv reported, “The Air Force continued its operations on Saturday against what remains of the Assad regime’s army.”
Israeli army officials told the newspaper: “They realized early last weekend that the Assad regime and its army were collapsing, and the Air Force decided to exploit the situation to destroy most of the Syrian army’s assets, for fearing that strategic weapons and means would fall into the hands of the Hezbollah militia or some extremist Islamic groups.”
According to the newspaper: “The Israeli army believes that the fact of destroying the Syrian air defense systems will provide the Israeli Air Force with smooth and safe access should it require operating in Iranian airspace.”
