Hadi Al-Bahra: The final statement of the Gulf summit affirmed the firmness of his stances towards Syria
The co-chair of the Constitutional Committee Hadi Al-Bahra said: “The final statement of the Gulf summit in Al-Ula confirmed its firm positions and decisions regarding the Syrian crisis.”
Al-Bahra added that the statement supports the political solution and Security Council Resolution 2254 (forming a transitional body for governance, drafting a new constitution for Syria, and preparing for elections to chart a new future for Syria that fulfills the aspirations of the Syrian people).
He explained that the Supreme Council declared support for the efforts of the United Nations to work on the return of refugees and displaced Syrians, and rejected any attempt to bring about demographic changes in Syria.
Al-Bahra pointed out that the Gulf Cooperation Council declared its steadfast stances towards Syria, which stipulate, “unity and respect for its independence and its lands, and it and condemned regional interference in it.”
He continued, “The Gulf meeting of Al-Ula called for the exit of all Iranian militias and Hezbollah militias that Iran had recruited to work in Syria.”
The summit discussed a number of important strategic files, foremost of which are ways to enhance work and achieve harmony between the countries of the Gulf Cooperation Council, and to discuss issues related to the Syrian file.
