Washington: Defenders of the Assad regime must admit that he has used chemical weapons
The US representative to the United Nations, Richard Mills, said today, Thursday: “The defenders of the Assad regime (Russia-Iran-Hezbollah militia) must acknowledge the use of chemical weapons.”
“We believe that the Security Council is responsible for ensuring that severe sanctions are imposed on those who use chemical weapons, and we cannot allow the use of chemical weapons to become acceptable,” Mills added.
He stressed that the United States welcomes, “the credible, objective and professional path that the Technical Secretariat of the Organization for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons has followed,” as he put it.
For his part, Russia’s First Deputy Permanent Representative to the United Nations, Dmitry Poliansky, said: “The Organization for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons (OPCW) shows double standard regarding its technical standards, towards Syria,” as he claimed.
He explained that the “Organization for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons” “turns into a tool for political manipulation (politicization of a certain party), and issues unwanted punishments.”
