The Turkish Minister of Health announces the start of vaccinating the elderly with the Corona vaccine
Today, Monday, Turkish Health Minister Fakhruddin Kujah announced the start of vaccinating citizens over the age of eighty years with the Corona vaccine in health institutions.
Fakhruddin Kujah said, “We start from today to vaccinate our citizens over the age of eighty, within the program prepared on the recommendation of the Turkish Scientific Council.”
On Monday, a Turkish Airlines plane arrived at Istanbul Airport with the second batch of the Chinese anti-Corona virus vaccine.
The Medicines and Medical Devices Foundation of the Turkish Ministry of Health announced the arrival of the second batch of the Chinese “Koronavac” vaccine, amounting to 6.5 million doses, indicating that it will be used after the completion of the related analyzes.
Sima Turan (a member of the Turkish Scientific Committee) told Anadolu Agency, Monday, that Turkey has entered an important stage of the vaccination process against the Corona virus.
She emphasized that the Foundation approved the “emergency use” of the Chinese “Coronavac” vaccine against the Coronavirus on January 13, after the completion of the related analyzes in its laboratories, for a period of 14 days.
She also stated that the 6.5 million doses of the Coronavac vaccine that arrived today are the first part of the second shipment of 10 million doses.
Turkey launched a vaccination campaign with the Chinese “Coronavac” vaccine on January 14, starting from the health sector workers and then the elderly, as part of a priority schedule for the segments that will be vaccinated.
