The “Watad Petroleum” company raises the prices of all fuels in Idlib
The “Watad Petroleum” company, operating in the liberated areas, announced that it raised the prices of all types of fuel in Idlib in different rates, after only three days of raising the price of “imported diesel”, amid criticism and a wave of anger from the residents of the province.
The company published on its official ID on “Telegram” the list of new fuel prices, which included raising the price of gasoline (first importer) by 10 Turkish piasters (from 4.77 to 4.87 Turkish liras), and raising the price of diesel (first importer) by 10 piasters as well (from
5 to 5.10 Turkish liras), while the price of diesel (first refined) increased by 6 piasters (from 3.61 to 3.67 Turkish liras).
The new price hike also included – according to Watad – a household gas cylinder worth a penny and a half, from (73.50 to 75 Turkish liras).
“Wedd Petroleum” said via Telegram, that the current increase in fuel and fuel prices is due to “the high exchange rate of the dollar against the Turkish lira” (today’s price, according to the latest bulletin until the time of preparing the news, reached 7.21 Turkish lira against the dollar).
The new price adjustment comes only 3 days after the announcement of “Wedged” raising the selling price of “imported diesel” by 24 piasters, four days after announcing a slight price reduction, and the company said at the time that the price increase was due to “the high price from the source.”
Commenting on the increase in the prices of all types of fuel and fuels, residents of Idlib Governorate expressed their anger at this decision, through interaction on social media.
Commentators said that the rise and fall of the value of the Turkish lira against the dollar leads to instability in the prices of fuel sales in the liberated areas, while others indicated their inability to purchase fuel mainly due to its high price, and the increase in the deficit with the recent rise.
The liberated north of Syria relies on securing fuel on its import either from Turkish territory or from the areas controlled by the Syrian Democratic Forces.
