Hussam Muhammad Karah warns of the spread of the new model of the Corona virus in northern Syria
The Idlib Health Directorate has warned against entering the northwestern region of Syria with a new wave of Coronavirus infections, after the recent escalation in the number of infections in many areas.
“The Corona virus is spreading in clusters that are not connected to each other, and a new study says that it is the new form of the virus, and there are great concerns due to the increase in the number of infections,” Mohammed Qara, who is responsible for the Corona file in northwestern Syria, told Fresh Online.
Qarah added, “Idlib’s health has asked people, through their contacts on social media, to adhere to social distancing methods, and to quarantine the injured and their contacts.”
Qarah stressed, “The next step will be to strengthen awareness-raising methods, distribute masks in large quantities in the event that the peak intensifies, and impose a quarantine through organizations that provide aid to the injured, and it has been ensured that hospitals in Idlib and northwestern Syria are equipped in the event of a new wave of the virus.”
“We have not yet reached the second peak, but the numbers started to rise slightly,” said Imad Zahran, the official in charge of the media office in Idlib Health.
Zahran stressed, “Our medical and health capabilities are very weak, given that the Corona virus has not been able to limit its spread by major countries so far, and therefore the bet was on preventive measures to limit the spread of the virus.”
Zahran pointed out that “the opening of hospitals and quarantine centers depends on international support, because these facilities are very expensive, and if this support is not available, new hospitals or centers cannot be opened.”
The “Syria Response Coordinators” team warned of the high number of Coronavirus infections in northwestern Syria, after the Health Directorate in Afrin imposed a quarantine on the village of “Aqjla” in the “Jenderes” district in Afrin countryside, due to the increase in the number of infections.
The Civil Defense (White Helmets) said, “Its teams have started to intensify cleansing operations in the countryside of the city of Al-Bab, east of Aleppo, to reduce as much as possible the re-spread of the epidemic, calling on civilians to take maximum measures to prevent the Coronavirus from (sterilization, wearing a muzzle, social distancing, informing
Competent teams when suspicion of symptoms of the virus.
The medical sector in northwestern Syria suffers from a lack of capabilities and equipment as a result of the destruction of dozens of hospitals and medical points, as a result of the military escalation of the Assad regime and its allies on the liberated areas.
Most of the people in the liberated north are unable to acquire means to prevent the spread of the virus, such as masks and sterilizers, which raises the possibility of an increase in the number of infected people.
