39 new cases of Coronavirus in northwestern Syria
The Early Warning Network recorded 39 new cases of Coronavirus in northwestern Syria, yesterday, Monday, bringing the number of recorded infections to 21,862.
The network stated that 29 new cases were recorded in the countryside of Aleppo (19 in Afrin, 4 in Azaz, 4 in Al-Bab, 2 in Jarablus), and Idlib governorate recorded 10 cases (4 in Idlib city, 3 in Harem, 3 in Ariha).
The network recorded 20 recoveries, 7 of them were recorded in the countryside of Aleppo (2 in Afrin, 2 in Jarablus, 2 in Al-Bab, 1 in Azaz), and Idlib governorate recorded 13 recoveries (5 in Ariha, 6 in Harem, 2 in Idlib). This brings the total number of recovery in northwestern Syria to 19,897 cases, and the network has not recorded any new deaths from the Coronavirus, leaving the death toll to 641 cases.
The epidemiological surveillance laboratory of the Early Warning Network Program stated that it conducted 516 analyzes of the Corona virus, bringing the number of analyzes it carried out to 120,903 in northern Syria.
The Syrian Interim Government had opened a laboratory for Corona Virus Detection Scan (PCR) in the city of Azaz, north of Aleppo, to cover several areas in northern Syria.
In an exclusive interview with Fresh, Dr. Maram Al-Sheikh, Minister of Health in the Interim Government, said, “The opening of the laboratory aims to speed up examination procedures and relieve pressure on other laboratories.”
Al-Sheikh confirmed that the laboratory will cover the areas of Azaz, Al-Bab, Al-Rai, Marea, Akhtarin and Soran, and the early warning team is in charge of taking samples and working on distributing cases to relieve pressure on other laboratories.
As an emergency response to the Corona pandemic, the Ministry of Health in Aleppo has carried out awareness campaigns, including markets and meetings with all local councils more than a year ago, and issued recommendations and a list of citizens and special recommendations for leaders, managers and actors in society, according to Al-Sheikh.
Last week, the World Health Organization announced the dispatch of 53,800 doses of the Coronavirus vaccine, to Idlib Governorate, northwestern Syria, as part of the “Kovacs” initiative.
