The United States: Russia is the reason for violating the anti-engagement agreement in Syria
The US Defense Department considered that Russia is the reason for violating the agreements to prevent clashes between the forces of the two countries (America and Russia) in Syria, which occurred between the two countries since the start of their operations in Syria in 2015 to prevent any further incidents.
This came in a report published by the US Defense Department on the conduct of Operation “Inherent Resolve” against “terrorism.”
“The coalition stated that the Russian forces, despite their general commitment to agreements to prevent clashes with its forces, continued to commit violations that did not endanger the coalition forces,” the ministry said in its report.
The report added: “During the quarter of the year, the Assad regime, the Turkish forces, the Turkish-backed opposition and the forces linked to Iran carried out operations against ISIS, but they also obstructed the activities of the coalition and the Syrian Democratic Forces.”
It explained that the Assad regime forces and their allies associated with Russia and Iran “tried to limit the movement of the coalition forces, while the activities of the Syrian militants linked to Turkey continued to divert the attention of the Syrian Democratic Forces from combating ISIS.”
US National Security Adviser John Bolton has previously confirmed that Russia and the United States have agreed, as a result of his meetings with the Russian leadership in Moscow, to expand their coordination in Syria.
