The National Coalition welcomes the position of the seven countries towards Syria
The opposition National Coalition said in a statement, “The assertion of the Group of Seven of its commitment to the option of a political solution in Syria and the push for the implementation of UN Security Council Resolution 2254, and linking any contribution to reconstruction projects to the political transition, is an important and welcome position that must be followed by practical steps.”
The statement added: “In light of the chronic inactivity of the Security Council in the Syrian file, the Group of Seven countries should support building practical mechanisms to fully implement Resolution 2254, especially the formation of the transitional governing body, which is the core of the political transition in Syria.”
The coalition stressed that the free world cannot remain submissive behind the Russian position committed to supporting tyranny and criminality in Syria and other tyrannical regimes around the world and encouraging them to oppress people with iron and fire, and thwart the hopes of millions of militants for the sake of promoting freedom and justice in their countries.
In its statement, the coalition made it clear that confronting geopolitical issues that threaten to undermine democracy, freedom and human rights is crucial, and it is the duty of democratic countries to defend these values.
It considered that the values are in the face of an “authoritarian” alliance led by Russia, in addition to “rogue” countries and regimes such as Iran, North Korea and the Assad regime.
It pointed out that the confirmation of the final statement issued by the seven countries on the delivery of humanitarian aid completely and without imposing any obstacles is very important, as is their support for re-activating the decision to bring international aid across borders, as quickly and as close as possible.
The coalition renewed its commitment to UN Security Council resolutions and political solution mechanisms, and calls for imposing the necessary pressure to achieve the political transition, which is the beginning of stability in Syria and the region.
The US Secretary of State, Anthony Blinken, who is visiting London to participate in the meetings of the foreign ministers of the “G7” countries, announced, Tuesday, that the Group of Seven G-7 countries affirmed their commitment to finding a political solution that ends the conflict in Syria.
