Iranian Foreign Ministry: US strikes on our sites in Syria and Iraq are part of its “arrogance”
Today, Monday, the Iranian Ministry of Foreign Affairs commented on the bombing of Iranian militia sites in Syria and Iraq, at dawn today, by US forces.
The Iranian Foreign Ministry said: “Rising tension in the region is not in the interest of the United States of America,” stressing that “the United States is going on the wrong path, and that the strikes in Syria and Iraq are part of its arrogance.”
Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman, Saeed Khatibzadeh, said, “We advise the new American administration in the United States to change its course instead of creating a crisis and creating problems for the peoples of the region, and to let the peoples of the region decide their fate without its interference.”
He pointed out that “Washington must correct its mistakes and stop its interference in the region,” adding: “America’s actions destabilize the security of the region, and this will not be in its interest.”
For its part, the US Department of Defense announced that its air forces bombed “weapon storage facilities for Iranian militias” in two locations, one inside Syria and another in Iraq.
The ministry said in a statement that the bombing “comes in response to drone attacks launched by these militias on American personnel and facilities in Iraq.”
Iraqi media sources stated that the US bombing of the (Iraqi-Syrian) border area killed 4 members of the 14th Brigade in the Popular Mobilization, and broadcast pictures of them, in addition to the material damage to the targeted sites.
