The Russian Ministry of Defense announces the conduct of joint Russian-Turkish patrols in Aleppo countryside
The Russian Reconciliation Center in Syria announced the conduct of joint Russian-Turkish military patrols in Aleppo Governorate, northwest Syria.
A statement of the Russian Ministry of Defense stated that “a joint Russian-Turkish patrol was conducted in Aleppo governorate along the road from the al-Jreeb checkpoint to the town of Bandar Khan and back along the road, and another one from the town of Mitras to the town of Bir Omar and back to their bases.”
On the first of last May, the Turkish and Russian forces conducted a joint patrol for a record distance in northeastern Syria, extending more than 100 km in the area of the city of Qamishli in the Hasaka governorate, in accordance with the Russian-Turkish agreements previously reached to settle tension in the region.
It is noteworthy that the joint Russian-Turkish patrols on the international road “M4” between Saraqib and the countryside of Lattakia have stopped since August of 2020, when several patrols were targeted by unknown persons.
