Tightened security in the capital, Damascus, coinciding with Bashar al-Assad’s oath
The security services of the Assad regime have implemented a stifling security cordon in the capital, Damascus, since this morning, and restricted the access of civilians to some areas there, coinciding with the start of Bashar al-Assad’s oath to renew his mandate.
Regime elements spread on all roads leading to the “Al-Abed” area, where Bashar al-Assad will take his oath before the members of the People’s Assembly.
The security restrictions imposed by the Assad regime forces in the capital have restricted the access of civilians to the area, and have exacerbated the traffic crisis in the capital since the announcement of the increase in diesel prices by 170 percent.
Activists in the Assad regime-controlled areas demanded today, Saturday, July 17, that electricity be secured in order to watch Bashar al-Assad take the constitutional oath.
Bashar al-Assad’s swearing in of the constitutional oath coincides with the stifling living and service crises that Syrians are experiencing in his areas of control, as his government has doubled the prices of basic materials.
