Idlib Health Directorate announces the arrival of the second batch of Corona vaccine

The Idlib Health Directorate announced the arrival of the second batch of the Corona vaccine to the province, which includes 36000 doses of the British “AstraZeneca” vaccine.

The directorate clarified that the second batch of the vaccine includes the second phase of the vaccination campaign for medical and humanitarian cadres, chronic disease owners, the elderly, and those working in public affairs.

In a related context, the assistant director of Idlib health, Refaat Al-Farhat, said that the directorate has completed the first phase of the vaccine campaign against Corona during the past three months, noting that the number of doses allocated to the first campaign was 53,800 doses.

And he added in a statement posted on the directorate’s Facebook account: “The first campaign covered Idlib with 35,000 doses of vaccine, targeting workers in the health and humanitarian sector, the elderly and those with chronic diseases.”

He pointed out that the directorate is preparing to start the second phase of vaccination against Corona in the coming days, as soon as it receives 36,000 doses as a first batch, followed by another 100,000 doses, with a total of 136 thousand vaccine doses.

And he indicated that the granting of vaccines in the second phase will be through fixed vaccination points, which are 24 centers in Idlib governorate, explaining that the second phase will last about 4 months.

Organizations operating in northwestern Syria have warned of the escalating rise in the number of people infected with the “Corona” virus in the region, stressing the need to adhere to preventive measures, especially with the registration of new infections with the “Delta” mutator.
