Gaziantep University intends to open engineering faculties in northern Syria
Anadolu Agency reported that the GaziantepTurkish University intends to open a group of engineering faculties and establish a new headquarters for the university that includes several departments in northwestern Syria.
Gaziantep University President Aref Ozayden said in a statement to Anadolu Agency that the university has opened its doors to Syrian students wishing to obtain educational services to build a better future.
He added that “the university has made important efforts to ensure that Syrian students obtain their right to education, and to provide the necessary educational services and higher institutes and colleges in the safe zone, to encourage reverse migration to it.”
Ozaiden stated that the aim of this step is to provide the best educational services to the Syrians in the northern Syrian regions.
He continued: “We do not covet a grain of dirt from the lands of our neighbors and brothers in Syria, all we want is to develop the quality of educational services in accordance with our civilized values and to make the safe area an attractive area for Syrians in order to accelerate the process of reverse migration,” as he described it.
He stressed that “the university desires to establish faculties of civil, architectural, mechanical, food engineering, informatics and defense industries engineering, in order to train and qualify Syrian engineers who will contribute to rebuilding the future Syria.”
Oziden indicated that the administration is planning to establish a new headquarters for the university in the north of Syria, which will contain many departments, including gymnasiums, cafeterias and places to stay, adding, “Gaziantep University will appoint 17 lecturers and 12 faculty members in order to provide the necessary educational services in the north. Syrian.”
He called on faculty members who live in different parts of Turkey and wish to contribute to the development of educational services in northwestern Syria, to join the project that the university is working to build in the “safe zone.”
Oziden pointed out that there are higher institutes and colleges affiliated with Gaziantep University in 4 cities in northern Syria, and that these educational institutions provide educational opportunities for Syrian youth, as well as education in many departments of the university.
