The Kremlin: Putin and Erdogan summit will discuss developments in the Syrian file, especially the Idlib file

The Russian presidency, “The Kremlin,” announced that Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan intends to visit Russia at the end of this month, in order to hold talks with his Russian counterpart, Vladimir Putin, on many issues on the international and regional arenas.

Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said in a press statement on Monday: “The Turkish and Russian presidents will discuss bilateral relations between the two countries, and the developments of the Syrian issue.”

Peskov added that the Turkish side is preparing for the working visit that the Turkish president intends to conduct at the end of this month.
He pointed out that the Syrian file and other files will be on the table in the Russian city of Sochi.

Idlib governorate has witnessed a military escalation by the forces of the Assad regime and Russia since last June, which has caused the death of more than 120 civilians, most of them children and women, and the displacement of dozens of families from the villages and towns of Jabal al-Zawiya to the Syrian-Turkish border.

It is noteworthy that, in recent years, the Turkish and Russian sides have reached many agreements related to Idlib, the beginning of which was in Astana, followed by the Sochi Agreement 2018, and the last of which was the Moscow Agreement, or what has become known as the March 5, 2020 agreement.
