11 deaths and 1189 new cases of COVID-19 were recorded in northwest Syria
Yesterday, northwestern Syria recorded 1,189 new infections with the emerging coronavirus, bringing the total number of infections to 69,312 since the virus began spreading.
According to the report issued by the Epidemiological Surveillance Laboratory of the Early Warning Network, 1189 cases of coronavirus were recorded on Monday, after 2075 new analyses were conducted, while the recovery cases rose to 35,656 cases after 943 cases of recovery were recorded.
The infections were distributed as follows in northwestern Syria, where Idlib governorate recorded the largest number of infections, with a rate of 337 in Idlib city and its suburbs, and 293 in the Harem region, while the Afrin region, north of Aleppo, recorded 225 infections and 122 in Azaz region, according to the statistics of the Epidemiological Surveillance Laboratory.
According to the observatory, coronavirus-related deaths rose to 1,130, after 13 deaths were recorded during the past 48 hours.
The observatory indicated that the daily positivity rate is high, estimated at (57.3%), with the registration of 20 cases of workers in the health sector, 3 cases that are accepted in the hospital, and 155 cases of displaced people inside the camps.
Warnings are mounting from health and humanitarian organizations about the repercussions of the outbreak of the pandemic in northwestern Syria due to the overcrowding of the region, especially in displacement camps, stressing the need to strictly follow the necessary preventive measures to limit the spread of the pandemic.
