British Foreign Secretary: We are working to verify the Russians’ use of chemical weapons in Mariupol
British Foreign Secretary Liz Truss said on Monday that her country is working to verify details of an alleged chemical weapons attack on residents in Ukrainian city of Mariupol.
Liz twitted that her country had reports saying that the Russians used chemicals during their attack on the besieged city of Mariupol, but we are working urgently with our partners to verify details.
She stressed that “any use of such weapons would be a callous escalation in this conflict, and we will hold Putin and his regime to account.”
For her part, Ivana Klimbusch, an official in the Verkhovna Rada, said that dozens of civilians in Mariupol suffer from respiratory failure, pointing out that the Russians used an unknown substance during the bombing of the city.
she wrote in a tweet on Twitter “Probably chemical weapons.”
On the other hand, the Russian RIA Novosti news agency indicated, on Monday, that the Russian forces that are imposing a siege on the city of Mariupol are likely to use such weapons, which will find a way to smoke moles out of their holes.
