The head of the International Committee of the Red Cross warns of the worsening situation in al-Hol camp in eastern Syria
The head of the International Committee of the Red Cross, Peter Maurer, announced that thousands of children in al-Hol camp in al-Hasakeh governorate are facing difficult living conditions.
This came in an interview with “The National” newspaper, he confirmed through it that “thousands of children who are stuck with their families in al-Hol camp, eastern al-Hasakeh, are facing future of appalling living conditions and statelessness.”
Maurer added: “approximately 22000 children are being deprived of a normal childhood, while humanitarian efforts are focused on supporting the essentials of life rather than providing a healthy and stable environment for them.”
He stressed that this situation is unsustainable and pointed out that “these people are living in desperate conditions in a camp where no legal and fair measures are existed.
The people of al-Hol camp in al-Hasakeh suffer from difficult living conditions due to the lack of the essentials of life, and they face many humanitarian problems that greatly affect children.
